APPROVING CHANGE ORDER # 2
2003 ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the Borough of Carteret has previously awarded a
contract to Star of the Sea in the amount of $414,444.00 for 2003 Road Improvement
Program; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer for the project, T & M Associates, has
advised the Governing Body that a modification of the contract is reasonable and
necessary and has recommended that the aforesaid contract be modified in accordance
with Contract Change Order #2 (see attached); and
WHEREAS, Change Order # 2 merely provides for an extension of the contract
competition date of 79 calendar days without any increase in the original contract
amount; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer, T & M Associates has advised that the
above described changes and/or modifications to the project were unforeseen at the time
of the award of the original contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret as follows:
1. That the Contract Change Order #2, a copy of which is attached hereto and made
a part hereof, providing for an extension of the contract date by 79 calendar days
is hereby approved.
2. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized to execute Change
Order #2 based upon the recommendation &the Borough Engineer.
3. A copy of this resolution and a fully executed copy of Change Order #2 be
forwarded to T&M Associates for distribution to Star of the Sea.
Adopted this 11th day of March, 2004
and certified as a true copy of the

Dear Ms. Barney:
Enclosed please find five (5) copies of Change Order #2 for approval by the governing body. This is a no-
cost change order revising the contract completion date for the subject project. The change in completion
date is necessitated by the shutdown of work for the winter. We have reviewed the contractor's revised
schedule and recommend its acceptance.
