HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-27-2014THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 27, 2014 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, March 27, 2014, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. President Robinson called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Present were: Vicki Robinson and Tony Foster. Absent was Dick Foore. Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Karen Chasteen, City Clerk; Police Lt. Donnie Benedict; Fire Chief Jerry Purcell; Human Resources Sue Roberson; and, Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Foster moved to approve the minutes for the March 20, 2014 meeting with a second by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Foster moved to approve the claims for payment for March 28, 2014 in the amount of One Hundred Forty Six Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty Four Dollars and seventy cents ($146,884.70), supported by. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. REQUESTS • STREET CLOSURE: ELDER BEERMAN — ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES 600 Block of East Main Street — 6th —7 th Street April 12, 2014 — 9am — 5 pm Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • NEW HANDICAP PARKING SIGNS: 242 SW 4th Street Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. 226 Kinsey Street Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID OPENINGS None BID AWARDS -None CONTRACTS • CONTRACT NO. 36 -2014 — MAZE DESIGN, INC. (Fire Department) Engineering Services in connection with the inspection and review of the stability of the Fire /Police Training House — 1740 South 8th Street Not to Exceed $4,200.00 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CHANGE ORDERS - None ADDENDUMS • CONTRACT NO. 12 -2013 -ADDENDUM NO. 1 AFL -CIO Local 1408 — Richmond Firefighters Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. RESOLUTIONS - None PETITIONS - None MISCELLANEOUS • Lt. Benedict distributed a press release that was forwarded to the Media: A reminder from the Richmond Police Department, Traffic Safety Division concerning basketball Goals. The City Ordinance prohibits basketball goals from being placed in all rights of way. This includes all streets, alleyways, sidewalks and cul -de -sacs. We are asking that all residents please comply with the City Ordinance and remove all basketball goals from these rights of way. We understand the importance of outdoor activity; however, it must be done in a safe environment. We think that everyone would agree that playing basketball in a city street has a potential to cause injury to the participants and traffic hazards to motorist. Board of Works Minutes March 27, 2014 Page 3 of 3 PUBLIC HEARING RESOLUTION NO. 5 -2014 — A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING EXPENSES FOR ENFORCING COMPLIANCE WITH UNSAFE BUILDING AND UNSAFE PREMISES ORDERS AND ESTABLISHING SCHEDULE OF MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PERFORMANCE BONDS APPLICABLE TO UNSAFE BUILDING AND UNSAFE PREMISES ORDERS ISSUED BY UNSAFE BUILDING COMMISSION Mr. Foster moved to accept the Proof of Publication, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Ms. Robinson declared Resolution No. 5 -2014 on Public Hearing. There being no person speaking for or against, Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. ADJOURNMENT After a motion was duly made, the meeting was adjourned.
