HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 64-404RESOLUTION NO. 64 -404 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY CONDEMNING ANY PROPOSAL TO LOWER THE AGE LIMIT FROM 21 TO 18 FOR THE PURCHASE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WHEREAS, there has been proposed before the Assembly Inter- im Committee on Alcoholism and Alcoholic Rehabilitation a suggestion that the State lower the age limit from 21 to 18 for purchase of alco- holic beverages; and WHEREAS, this proposal undoubtedly would lead to mass pur- chases of liquor by teenagers and result in increased crime rates; and WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has vehemently opposed such a plan as ludicrous; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of Temple City hereby joins the Board of Supervisors and strongly protests any lower- ing of the age limit in the interest of this community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23th day of September, 1964.
