RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET, COUNTY OF
MIDDLESEX, NEW JE ~RSEY, AUTHORIZING A SENIOR CITIZEN
SEWER REBATE PROGRAM FOR THE 2004 CALENDAR YEAR IN THE
AMOUNT OF $50.00
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret established a sewer user fee ordinance for the
purpose of covering the cost of the Borough's sewer system, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council desire to implement relief to the senior citizen
residents in the form a $50.00 sewer rebate for the 2004 calendar year, and
WHEREAS, the following conditions have to be met in order to qualify for the
$50.00 sewer rebate program:
1) The property must be owner occupied as of January 1, 2004 as a single~
family residential unit.
2) The senior citizen resident must have attained the age of 65 or older before
January 1, 2004 and adequate proof must be supplied.
3) Property taxes and sewer user fees are not in arrears and are in a current
status.
4) The rebate application must be filed with the tax collector's office on or
before September 1, 2004.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, New Jersey, that the Tax Collector
implement a 2004 sewer rebate program for qualified senior citizen resident owners
as defined above, issue rebate checks accordingly, and report to governing body of
all transactions.
