HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 65-427RESOLUTION NO. 65 -427 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA, URGING THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO ENACT A GENERAL STATUTE RETURNING "HOME RULE" TO THE CITIES OF CALIFORNIA THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That this City Council does hereby urge the State Legislature of the State of California to enact a statute which shall be applicable to all other statutes of the State of California, both presently existing and hereafter enacted, which shall read in substance as follows: "Unless the Legislature of the State of California has expressly declared by statute that an entire field of activity is pre - empted by State law to the exclusion of action by local legislative bodies, no field in which a legislative body may have occasion to act shall be held to have been so pre - empted." SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to for- ward copies of this Resolution to the State Assemblyman and Senator representing the people of the City of Temple City and to other appro- priate committees and members of the State Legislature, to the League of California Cities and to other City Councils in the County of Los Angeles, urging support for a statute substantially in conformity with the statute hereinabove recommended.
