HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolutions-2011-59K CITY OF TIFFIN RESOLUTION 2011-59 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF AN INTERIM CITY CLERK AND, TREASURER FOR THE CITY OF.TIFFIN, IOWA. ' WHEREAS, the current appointed City'Clerk and Treasurer, Ruth Demuth, has submitted their resignation effective December 31, 2011 and the City Council accepts this resignation. WHEREAS, the City Council understands the!need to fill this vacancy to allow the transition of duties starting January 1, 2012 so necessary functions for the City -can be continued. 4 WHEREAS, the City Council desires to fill these functions for temporary interim period until such time that the City Council so chooses to change the functions of the positions. 6. THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED; the City Council is appointing Adelia Madden,,to, the, interim temporary position of City Clerk and Treasurer, starting on January 1, 2012, as per detailed in the Code of Ordinances Chapters 18 and 19, in accordance to Code of Iowa, Section 372.13, 380.7, and 362.3. s ' Therefore, the compensation is approved at the amount of current amount at $14.00 per hour,, established as per Code of Iowa, Section 372.13. City Council will consider re-setting;compensation at time of re -appointment at regular January2012 meeting. On this 14th day of December 2011 ata regular meeting of Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Council person Travis Weipert introduced RESOLUTION 2011-59 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF ' AN INTERIM CITY CLERK AND TREASURER FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA and made a motion for approval. The motion was seconded by Council person Chris Ball. AYES: Chris Ball, Jim Bartels, Travis Weipert NAYS: None ABSENT: Mike-Gericke, Mark Petersen WHEREUPON, with three votes for approval; Mayor Phillips declared that Resolution 2011-59 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF. AN INTERIM CITY CLERK AND TREASURER FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA be adopted and signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto. r , � r R , F 6 Passed, and approved this14th day of December 2011. , City i 'n `° gne oyce lips, Mayr At 1 Ruth 1$emuth, City Clerk w d FF w s a z a g , CITY OF TIFFIN RESOLUTION 2011-58 ^* 4 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AND APPROVING THE REVITALIZE IOWA'S SOUND ECONOMY (RISE) GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF IRELAND AVENUE NORTH FROM INTERSTATE 80 INTERCHANGE TO THE INTERSTATE RAILROAD CROSSINGS ,WHEREAS, the City of Tiffin,, Iowa ("City") wishes to make road improvements to Ireland,Avenue, north of the interchange of Ireland Avenue and' Interstate 80 following north to the Interstate Railroad'crossings. WHEREAS, the City is attempting to attract,additional commercial businesses to new development adjacent to Interstate 80 and west of th`e interchange with.l-380 and Hwy, 218. These locations allow accessibilities to the Interstate systems., Improvements to this road will allow add itionalaccessibility to US ' Hwy 6. ' WHEREAS, the City desires to make these improvements to enhance the economic development for commercial and industrial development within the community and surrounding area and'add to the quality. of life of citizens. These improvements will enhance the continuation and connection of the Johnson County Trail.System and,the City Trails. YY WHEREAS, increased commercial and industrial business creates additional jobs for,citizens and,allows growth of the tax base and is consistent with the intent of the RISE program to,fund„ projects which grow the Iowa tax base and facilitate job creation WHEREAS, the City needs the support of the Revitalize Iowa's Sound Ec'o'nomy fund`s to assist in the_ improvements needed for this Project which•has been included in Tiffin's Capital Improvement Projects and future Comprehensive Land Use Plans. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCILOF THE -CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA, THAT: Y' 1. Tlie estimated cost of the reconstruction of Ireland Avenue and Bridge with sidewalks is $2,252,500.00 and the City of Tiffin is applying to the RISE program for $1,126250.00 (50%). r 2. The City of Tiffin, , Iowa supports and approves the application to the Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy program for funds to facilitate the reconstruction of Ireland Averibe which includes a bridge and sidewalks. ` i Passed and approved this 14th day of December 2011. -� ,.
