RESOLUTION APPROVING APPOINTMENT OF
KELLY KRELL AS COUNCIL MEMBER
FOR THE CITY OF RIVERDALE
TO FILL A VACANCY LEFT BY THE RESIGNATION
OF COUNCIL MEMBER DEAN HALSEY,
SAID TERM TO EXPIRE
FOLLOWING THE NEXT REGULAR ELECTION,
THE SECOND TUESDAY OF NOVEMBER,2018
WHEREAS. Council member Dean Halsey tendered his resignation from the City Council and
the Council did accept his resignation,with regret, at their regular meeting of April 10,2018; and,
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Riverdale("City") is authorized to fill vacancies on
the City Council by Chapter 372.13 of the Code of Iowa; and,
WHEREAS,the City Council did state their intention to fill the vacancy by means of appointment
as set forth by Chapter 372.13 of the Code of Iowa, and did cause notice of same to be duly published in
the Quad City Times on April 20,2018; and,
WHEREAS, Mayor Bawden did solicit the interest of citizens of Riverdale who are eligible to
serve as member of the City Council, and following his review of applicants, does recommend the
appointment by Council of Ms. Kelly Krell, 136 Wisteria Lane, Riverdale to fill the vacancy until
certification of the next regular election to be held the second Tuesday of November, 2018; and,
WHEREAS, upon due consideration of the nomination,the City Council desires to approve his
recommendation.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RIVERDALE, SCOTT COUNTY, IN THE STATE OF IOWA:
That the City Council approves the Mayor's nomination of Kelly Krell as Council member to fill
the vacancy left by the resignation of Council member Dean Halsey, said appointment to be
effective immediately, and for the period until the certification of the next regular election to be
held the second Tuesday of November,2018, subject to the terms and requirements of the afore-
said Chapter 372.13 of the Code of Iowa.
