General Notes
Plant Schedule
All planting beds shall receive a minimum of
three (3) inch thick layer of shredded bark, wood
chips or other all organic mulch. All perennial or
groundcover beds shall receive a minimum of
two (2) inch thick layer of shredded bark, wood
chips or other all organic mulch.
Landscape materials shall be selected and
located so as not to obstruct visual or physical
access to fire hydrants.

Any missing, dead or severely damaged or
diseased plant material shall be replaced by the
owner, tenant or their agent during the next
planting season for the said plant material.
Plant materials other than ground cover shall be
set back a minimum of three (3) feet from the
curb to avoid damage from overhanging car
bumpers and doors.

All planting area which is not occupied by trees,
shrubs, flowers or groundcover shall be turf.
Foundation planting shall be provided on those
facades that exceed fifty (50) lineal feet.

The caliper of the trunk of all trees shall be at
diameter breast height (DBH -
four-and-one-half (4.5) feet above ground).

All plant material shall comply with the
provisions set forth by the American Standard
for Nursery Stock, ANSI Z60.1 - (most recent
edition).
Size of vegetation depicted on drawing is
between two-thirds (2/3) to full mature size.
Symbols are not indicative of size of item at
planting. (See planting schedule)
All trees, shrubs, ground cover and flowers shall
be balled and wrapped or container grown. No
container grown stock will be accepted if it is root
bound.
Planting Notes
The perimeter of the planting hole shall extend a
minimum of two (2) feet beyond the sides of the
root ball on all sides. The sides of the hole shall
slope gradually, making the hole bowl-shaped.
The hole shall be no deeper than necessary to
cover the root ball. If hole is mechanically dug,
sides shall be scored to eliminate any glazing.

A doughnut-like circle of soil shall be cultivated
eight (8) to twelve (12) inches deep and eighteen
(18) inches wide around the root ball. A three (3)
inch layer of organic mulch shall be spread over
the planting hole coming no closer to the trunk
than six (6) inches. The trees shall be initially
watered to remove air pockets from the soil and
later as necessary to maintain a healthy,
vigorous condition.
All tags, wires, plastic ties and rope shall be
removed from each plant to prevent girdling the
plant. The burlap shall be removed from the
upper third of the root ball.

All trees shall be planted straight and shall be
maintained in an upright position. Trees greater
than three (3) inch caliper shall be staked for a
minimum of one (1) growing season to prevent
the tree from leaning.

Remove weeds, organic matter and rocks larger
than one-and-one-half (1.5) inches from soil.
