Good Shepherd Alliance opens thrift store in Leesburg’s Prosperity Center
Leesburg, VA (September 29, 2010) – At 1:00 pm, on Saturday, October 2, 2010, Town of
Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Hope’s Treasures, located at 703 East
Market Street, Suites F and G, in the Prosperity Center shopping plaza. Vice Mayor Kevin
Wright will be officiating.
The East Market Street store is the fourth Hope’s Treasures location, the first in the Town of
Leesburg. Hope’s Treasures is a thrift store operated by a local non-profit agency, The Good
Shepherd Alliance. The Good Shepherd Alliance has focused on providing help and hope for the
homeless in Loudoun County since 1983 by providing intensive case management services to
residents in their emergency and transitional homes.
“Our thrift stores not only provide a major source of revenue for our shelters, but also offer
much-needed items for free to families in need through our voucher program,” stated Vickie
Koth, Executive Director of The Good Shepherd Alliance. “In 2009, we touched over 1,600
families through our programs.”
“The Hope’s Treasures store represents the expansion of an in-demand service and retail
presence that will benefit many in Leesburg,” commented Ara Bagdasarian, chair of the
Leesburg Economic Development Commission. “This new store will further the mission of the
Good Shepherd Alliance by helping those in need, especially in these economically challenging
times.”
