AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE PLACEMENT OF LIQUIFIED
NATURAL GAS (PROPANE) TANKS USED TO HEAT RESIDENTIAL
STRUCTURES IN THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough") as follows:
Section 1. With regard to mobile home/trailer parks no more than one liquified natural
gas (propane) tank used for residential heating purposes may be placed on a tax lot within
the Borough of Carteret. The provisions of this Ordinance shall not apply to such
existing propane tanks.
Section 2. The provisions of this Ordinance notwithstanding, if the owner(s) or
renter(s) of a mobile home or residential trailer wish to convert to propane as a means of
heating said residential unit, or wish to replace an existing propane tank used for such
purpose, the owner(s) or renter(s) of said unit may do so for a period of up to thirty-six
(36) months following the passage of this Ordinance.
Section 3. All Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provision of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed limited to the extent of any such inconsistency.
Section 4. If any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause or provision of this Ordinance is
adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to the section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause or provision so adjudged and the remainder of this Ordinance shall be
deemed valid and effective.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication according to
applicable law.
