TOWN OF FRASER "Icebox of the Nation" p,O, Box,120 I 153 Fraser Avenue Fraser, Colorado 80442 (303) 726-5491 FAX Line: (303) 726-5518 MEMORANDUM To: Mayor Jensen and the Town Board From: Chuck Reid Date: May 16, 1995 Subject: "Skid Steer Loader" purchase Action Sought: Staff seeks Town Board approval for the purchase of one Gehl Skid Steer Loader, for an amount not to exceed $17,680, Background: The 1995 budget incl udes $14,000 for the purchase of one pick-up truck. Issues: The Town does not have a Skid Steer in its current fleet. A Skid Steer is a small "tractor" that can be used for grading trenching, snow removal, sweeping, and other small equipment projects. Jim Tucker would prefer that the Town purchase a Skid Steer (i.e. a "Bobcat") instead of the truck and he believes that the Town's current truck fleet will be adequate for a couple more years. The purchase price includes the base unit, broom, and heater (see bid), I Benefits: Purchasing the Skid Steer wilt increase the Town's efficiency for snow removal and sweeping onTown property and the Town's trail system, In addition, the Skid Steer will enable staff to perform "tighter" trench and grading work. Costs: The bid for this piece of equipment is $3,680 over the amount budgeted for the pick-up truck. However, the Town does have enough reserves to cover this purchase. , , ~ i .. ... e e . .
