Specifically, Staff would like to discuss an administrative review process for in-kind replacement of roofs and other projects deemed as "minor work", which currently requires approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness by the Historic Preservation Commission. Staff is seeking input from the Historic Preservation Commission on projects that could be approved administratively, approved by the HPC, or exempt from approval in order to create a straightforward list for property owners and applicants. Staff would be seeking such input at a future workshop with the Historic Preservation Commission. Commissioner Hendericksen stated he is in favor of having maintenance items, such as roofs and paint, to be approved administratively. Chairman Bortel stated this has been discussed previously to have the HPC Chair and staff to approve minor work, such as roofs, administratively.
