HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-02-2020 Joint Meeting LDDC & Public Outreach Meeting of the Landmarks & District Designation Subcommittee Record of Minutes Page 1 of 2 Date: January 2, 2020 Location: Village Hall CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL Chairman Bortel called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m. Roll call was taken: Commissioners Hagen, Hendricksen, Rapp, and Chairman Bortel were present. Commissioners Barvian, Derrick, Lucas, Olsen, and Schmidt were absent. Also, in Attendance: Jonathan Proulx, Director of Planning; Lonnie Spires, Building Official; Jessica Gal, Associate Planner; and Yuchen Ding, Associate Planner. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Hendricksen made a motion to approve the minutes from the Landmark & District Designation and Public Outreach Subcommittees Joint Meeting held on December 5, 2019 as presented. Second by Commissioner Hagen. Voice Vote. All in favor. 0 opposed. Motion carried 4-0. STAFF REPORT Ms. Gal and Mr. Ding provided an update of the following tasks staff is working on; Historic Guidelines and Lockport Street Demolition. OLD BUSINESS Demolition by Neglect Ordinance Ms. Gal stated staff and the Building Department will be meeting to discuss a possible demolition by neglect ordinance. International Building Code Workshop on February 19, 2020 Chairman Bortel provided an update on the presenters. Mr. Spires stated he invited Building Officials from other cities/villages to the workshop. Historic Preservation Commission New Logo Mr. Ding provided draws of new logo concepts. Commissioner Hendricksen stated he does not feel that there should be a specific building for the logo. Chairman Bortel stated he does not want to change the logo on the plaques, but a new logo could be used on their letterhead. Mr. Ding stated it would be less confusing to only have one logo. The commissioners in attendance felt the logo does not need to be changed. It was decided to put it on the next HPC agenda for the commission to discuss. Preservation Awards for May 2020 Chairman Bortel stated the Village Public Works Department will receive an award for the downtown planters. Commissioner Hendericksen suggested the Baker House for an award. NEW BUSINESS Historic Preservation Commission 2020 Goals Ms. Gal provided with a list of goals she drafted for the HPC. Kendall County Meeting February 19th Chairman Bortel asked the commission to start thinking about who they would like to nominate for the Preservation Awards. Landmarks & District Designation Subcommittee January 2, 2020 Page 2 of 2 Landmark Plaque Chairman Bortel stated the plaque for the Fox River nomination will be discussed at the January 9th HPC meeting. DISCUSSION Mr. Spires and the commission discussed how the HPC can help the Building Department. Chairman Bortel stated he may arrange another tour of the Farnsworth House in May.
