Leesburg Executive Airport Hosts 2010 Open House and Air
Show on Saturday, October 23, 2010
Free event promises fun for the whole family
Leesburg, VA (October 15, 2010) – On Saturday, October 23, 2010, the Leesburg Executive
Airport will host its 2010 Open House and Air Show from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Entrance to
the Open House and Air Show is free. The Leesburg Executive Airport is located at 1001 Sycolin
Road SE, on the south side of Leesburg.
Gates for the event will open at 10:00 am. The Open House’s static display area, located on the
airport’s aircraft parking ramp, will feature many unique, experimental and antique aircraft,
including a Mustang jet and AirCare’s medevac helicopter. The display area will include
educational aviation booths, aircraft manufacture displays, information about the Wounded
Warrior Project and a number of exotic cars.
From 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., the skies above Leesburg will come alive with aerobatic, wing
walking and skydiving performances. The air show will feature six local and national acts and
will be narrated by nationally acclaimed air show announcer Ron David.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the non-flying public to see a snapshot of General Aviation”
said Tim Deike, director of the Leesburg Executive Airport. “The Open House will showcase the
many facets of General Aviation, including how we provide and promote services such as flight
training, transportation and emergency rescue operations.”
The day’s activities will conclude with the annual Commemorative Air Force Hangar Dance.
Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m., followed by dance instruction at 6:00 p.m. and dancing from
7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Music will be provided by the Radio King Orchestra and swing dance
instruction by Mark and Ellen of Flying Feet Enterprises. Tickets for the Hangar Dance are $35

in advance or $40 at the door. Attendees are encouraged to dress in 1940s-era clothing. Prizes
will be awarded for the best costumes. Proceeds from the event will benefit the National
Capitol Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force. Tickets may be purchased at
