HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 65-473RESOLUTION NO. 65 -473 PROCLAMATION We are fast approaching the day in the Temple City area when every veteran will be an older worker; already today approximately one -third of our veteran population is over 45 years of age- - that time of life when too many find it difficult to find jobs. These veterans are men and women who, as members of the P.rmed Forces of the United States in time of war served their country with faith and vigor. They have since demonstrated in their civilian pursuits their capabilities for similar faithful and vigorous service to business and industry. No amount of automation nor technological change can lessen the need for the characteristics of stability nor weaken the value of experience which these veterans possess in abundance and make availabie to Temple City area employers today. So that our employers may be reminded of these virtues, I, William A. Harker, Mayor of Temple City, do hereby join with the veterans' organizations in proclaiming May 3 to 15 HIRE A VETERAN WEEK. I remind all employers who have job vacancies, actual or pending, to place job orders with the C lifornia State Employment Service where, by law, the veteran is assured of priority of referral to a job. Mayor of the City of Temple City, California 660
