Taekwondo students will participate in martial arts demonstration and cancer
research fundraiser on Saturday, October 23, 2010
Leesburg, VA (October 22, 2010) – A delegation of eight representatives from Samcheok City,
South Korea, is visiting the Town of Leesburg from October 18 through October 27, 2010.
Accompanying the Samcheok delegation is a group of 20 children who will be participating in
the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Academy’s 18th Annual “Kick Cancer Out of the World”
martial arts demonstration and fundraiser on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Grand Master Choi,
owner and founder of the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Academy (USTMA), has set a goal to
raise $1 million for cancer research in his lifetime. USTMA holds annual events to raise
awareness and money to support cancer research. This year, the event takes place in
conjunction with the visit of the Samcheok City delegation. The demonstration and fundraiser
will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the USTMA’s facility at 9 Cardinal Park Drive SE in
Leesburg. For more information, please visit http://myustma.com/.
The Town of Leesburg has had a “Sister City” relationship with Samcheok City since 2003. This
month’s visit is the fourth time representatives from Samcheok City have travelled to Leesburg.
The Leesburg Town Council will be hosting a dinner for the Samcheok delegation on Tuesday,
October 26, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of Town Hall. At the Council Meeting that
evening, the Council will make a special presentation to the delegation.
