HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 2018-19, Approving Appointment Of Maggie Iverson To The Riverdale Planning Commision For A Term Commencing With The Passage Of This Resolution And Ending December 31, 2021 RESOLUTION NO. 2018-19 RESOLUTION APPROVING APPOINTMENT OF MAGGIE IVERSON TO THE RIVERDALE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR A TERM COMMENCING WITH THE PASSAGE OF THIS RESOLUTION AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2021 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Riverdale ("City") is authorized to maintain a Planning and Zoning Commission ("Commission") by Chapter 21 of the Riverdale City Code under authority granted by the Code of Iowa at Sections 414.6 and 392.1; and, WHEREAS, said Commission is to maintain a Board of 5 members, each for a term of 5 years, and one position was vacated with the acceptance of the resignation of Commission member Jenny Staub, whose term was slated to end on December 31, 2021; and, WHEREAS, Chapter 21.03 of the Riverdale City Code, "Vacancies", and Section 392.1 of the Code of Iowa provide that"... a successor for the residue of the term shall be appointed in the same manner as the original appointee." (Riverdale City Code, Chapter 21.03); and, WHEREAS, Mayor Bawden has nominated Maggie Iverson, a resident of Riverdale, to fill the appointment for the remaining period of the vacancy; and, WHEREAS, upon due consideration of the nomination, the City Council desires to approve his appointment. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERDALE, SCOTT COUNTY, IN THE STATE OF IOWA: That the City Council approves the Mayor's nomination of Maggie Iverson to fill a vacancy on the Planning and Zoning commission for a period commencing as of the date of passage of this resolution, and ending on December 31, 2021, subject to the terms and requirements of the afore- said Code of Iowa and Riverdale City Code.
