HomeMy Public PortalAbout160_042_TYBEE ARTS ASSOCIATION August 11, 2011 TYBEE ARTS ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 11, 2011 ATTENDANCE -Kim Trammell Renee DeRossett Richard Adams Carol Ingham Doris Grieder Samantha Claar Call to order 6:06 Secretarys report -Vivian Woods no longer with the city. Will need to find out who to send hours and minutes to. Motion made to approve the minutes. Passed. Treasurers report -Since Sallie could not attend she sent report by email. Insurance -Nationwide will not insure us at various locations. Sallie will get more quotes. Samantha stated Mary Ingalls would know the name of the insurer that did insure us in the past. Richard stated CSI in Texas used to be reasonable. Richasrd to contact them. Samantha to pass info along to Sallie. Motion made to go forth with insurance when a reasonable quote given. Theatre Report -Carol had some concerns and questions regarding the cost of Oz versus the profit. (The profit being stated in Treasures Report) Her question was could Oz have been done cheaper and therefore on a much smaller scale. She was was concerned about the cost of certain production needs and Kim agreed and said there were things that could have been done cheaper but the production would have reflected the cost. A heated discussion ensued. Samantha stated artists working on the Oz sets were not made to feel welcome and a part of the production. Kim disagreed stating all of the artist she had talked with enjoyed the work being done. Kim also stated that no artist had voiced these opinions to her and she had had many conversations with them during the time they were working at art center. Renee and Samantha engaged in a heated debate and after Samantha referred to the production as the “Kim Renee and Richard show”. More heated debate followed and Renee then quit the board and left the meeting. Discussion continued and Renee returned to the meeting and stated she would not quit. The atmosphere improved dramatically and meeting resumed. Festival of the arts -Pier is open, Lighthouse is open. Applications received at this time are 20 TAA members. Richard stated 6000.00 budget needed with a 20% buffer. Samantha jpromised all TAA artists that worked on Art Shows would receive a reduced rate for Arts Festival. Doris asked if Arts Festival could be done on scale of Monthly Arts Shows but billed as “15th Annual” to maintain arts festival momentum. Grass roots aspect can be placed on it and we can hold it on our lot and in the bldg. Motion made by Samantha that the 15th annual arts festival be held behind arts center blgs and parking lot with offsite parking. Passed. Juried show is on. Samantha motioned fee be 25.00 to be place in pot for prize money. Passed Bill Blakey would like to rent arts center for halloween/birthday party. 125.00 needed for rental of bldg. Richard suggest we aked him as member and very hard worker for TAA if he would donate money to Association in lieu of rental fee. Carol suggest we ask city if they will help with bldg repairs so we can continue to do shows and hold art shows. Passed. Meeting adjourned at 7:38 Meeting called called to order again to attend to unfinished business. Richard asked if TAA would donated monies to Andrew Adams Eagle Scout project at Oatland Island. The project would rebuild the panther habitat on Oatland. Kim motioned for AA to donate 150.00 to this project. Passed. Metting adjourned at 7:45
