RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER TO CONTRACT//98-14
BERGEN, HAYWARD & HARRISON PUMPING STATION
IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, on July 7, 1999, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret
awarded a contract to P&H Construction in the amount of $109,300.00 for
improvements to Bergen, Hayward and Harrison pumping stations; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer for the project, Killam
Associates, has advised the Governing Body that a modification of the contract
is reasonable and necessary and has recommended that the aforesaid contract be
increased in accordance with Contract Change Order #4 and Contract Change
Order #5 (see attached letter); and
WHEREAS, Change Order #4 includes payment for additional labor and
mater/als required to rehabilitate the spare pumps at both the Bergen Street and
Hayward Avenue pumping stations in the amount of $6,321.89 and Change
Order #5 includes payments for upgrades to new control panels provided by
P&H Construction in the amount of $4,527.50; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer, Killam Associates, has
certified that said changes and/or modifications were unforeseen at the time of
the award of the original contract; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has certified that funds are available to
pay for the aforesaid increases to the contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret as follows:
(1) Contract Change Order #4 in the amount of $6,321.89 is hereby approved
and payment of said additional amount is hereby authorized;
(2) Contract Change Order #5 in the amount of $4,537.50 is hereby approved
and payment of said additional amount is hereby authorized;
(3) The Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby authorized to execute Change
Order #4 and Change Order #5.
