HomeMy Public PortalAbout1979_06_13_R085 TOWN OF LEESBURG IN LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA RESOLUTION NO. 79-85 PRESENTED June 13, 1979 ADOPTED June 13, 1979 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING AN ADDENDA TO THE LEESBURG STANDARD CONSTRUC- TION SPECIFICATIONS. RESOLVED by the Council for the Town of Leesburg, Virginia, as follows: The following addenda to the Leesburg Standard Construction ~pecifications for water, sewer, streets and appurtenances is made in order to clarify and alter the existing specifications concerning back-filling and compaction of excavated areas within all existing or proposed public rights-of-way and easements within Leesburg's jurisdiction; all excavations within existing or proposed public rights-of-way and easements shall be back-filled with suitable fill material, as approved by the Department of Engineering, in 6-inch com- pacted layers, unless otherwise approved in writing. Suitable fill material is to be compacted at a moisture content within plus or minus 20 percent of optimum moisture. Final compaction results shall be at least 95 percent of maximum density. The contractor shall provide equipment for excavation purposes to expose areas of back-fill which has been compacted to allow for testing by town personnel. The town shall perform as many compaction tests as it deems necessary to assure that 95 percent compaction has been achieved. The Director of Engineering shall approve all methods of compaction. The town has the right to reject any back-fill which it deter- mines as unsuitable for the purpose intended. It has the right to -2- stop all work within easements and public rights-of-way if it is not being completed in accordance with these specifications. Com- paction by water (puddling) will not be permitted. Any contractor not following the proper procedures is forwarned that the work will not be accepted for maintenance by the town.
