Thomas Birkby House Featured as a Destination Wedding
Location on Martha Stewart Weddings Website
Downtown Leesburg wedding and event venue selected to represent Virginia in
“50 Ways to Wed in the United States” feature article
Leesburg, VA (November 2, 2010) – The Thomas Birkby House, a wedding and special event
venue located in Leesburg’s historic downtown, is featured on the Martha Stewart Weddings
website, as one of “50 Ways to Wed in the United States.” The website article lists one
destination wedding site in each of the fifty states.
The historic Birkby House was renovated as an event center in 1999 by the present owners
Ronald Rust and Judy Kozacik. The half-acre property was an original lot when Leesburg was
platted in 1757. The house was built in the 1770’s and the carriage house, one of a very few
historic industrial buildings in Leesburg, dates back to 1814. The venue began doing events in
2000 and has hosted more than 500 weddings since that time. Their focus is on garden events
in immaculately maintained gardens in a true historic setting. The site can accommodate up to
150 guests and hosts only one event per day, with an emphasis on having the entire wedding
event, from ceremony to reception, at one convenient location.
In addition to the Martha Stewart feature, the Birkby House was also selected as a "Best
Wedding Venue" by Northern Virginia Magazine in 2008.
“We are very pleased to be selected as the Virginia site by the prestigious Martha Stewart
Weddings,” said Ron Rust. “We strive to anticipate the needs of the wedding couple and their
guests while featuring the historic property and its location in the Historic District of Leesburg.”
