Special Session
April 2, 1990
• The Greencastle Common Council met in special session on
Monday, April 2, 1990 in City Hall. On call of the roll the
following members were shown to be present: Councilor Tim Conway,
Councilor Bob Sedlack, Councilor Sue Murray and Councilor Mike
Rokicki. Councilor Sheri Roach was absent. Also present was City
Attorney Larry Wilson.
Recommendations from Officers and Departments:
Ordinance 1990 -12, An Ordinance Amending the Greencastle
Planning and Zoning Ordinance by Amending the Zoning Map, was
presented to the Council and read in its entirety by Mayor
Harmless. Larry Wilson explained the ordinance and the area in
question. The Plan Commission voted unanimously at the meeting of
March 26, 1990 to rezone the area. Councilor Rokicki moved to
approve Ordinance 1990 -12 as presented. This motion was seconded
by Councilor Murray and was carried by an aye unanimous vote.
Mayor Harmless declared Ordinance 1990 -12 passed and adopted.
Presented to the Council was a request from Lori Aspegren
representing the Little 500 to close Hanna Street between Locust
Street and College Street on Thursday, April 19, 1990 and Friday,
April 20, 1990 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Councilor Murray moved
to approve the request as presented. This motion was seconded by
Councilor Sedlack and was carried by an aye unanimous vote.
Council Reports and Comments:
Councilor Murray noted that the grant application submitted
for round two of the Community Focus Fund did not pass the first
threshold. The proposal will remain on file in city records for
• future consideration.
Presented to Council was a proposal to add "Welcome To
Greencastle" signs. Four signs were proposed with the following
text:
WELCOME TO GREENCASTLE
A Clean City
No Littering
$1000 Fine
Mr. Wright indicated that the signs would cost $430.00 and would be
charged to the Street Department sign appropriation. The consensus
of Council was to proceed with the ordering of the signs.
Mayor Harmless reported to Council the progress of the
Southern Highway Project. Mr. Wilson noted that there are three
parcels remaining to be acquired. Notice will be published on
April 17, 1990 for Bid Opening on May 15, 1990. Councilor Sedlack
thanked Mayor Harmless and Mr. Wilson for their efforts concerning
this project.
With no further business, Councilor Sedlack moved for
adjournment. This motion was seconded by Councilor Murray, carried
by an aye unanimous vote and the meeting was adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
