A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE
CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN ST. FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER FUNDRAISER
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood finds that a public purpose is served
by maintaining the health and welfare of its residents and the community; and
WHEREAS, St. Francis Medical Center is the only comprehensive, non-profit health
care institution serving Southeast Los Angeles, which includes the residents of Lynwood; and
WHEREAS, St. Francis Medical Center provides complimentary services to the
residents of Lynwood such as free health clinics and medical screenings; and
WHEREAS, St. Francis Medical Center Foundation has extended an invitation to the
City of Lynwood for members of the City Council to participate in a fundraiser by donating $500
each. The fundraiser is the 9th Annual Golf Classic on Friday, September 22, 2006; and
WHEREAS, proceeds from the fundraiser will help St. Francis Medical Center continue
the mission of the Daughters of Charity -caring for those who are poor and underserved, with
the ultimate goal of improving health.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the donation of $1,000 to St. Francis Medical Center serves a public
purpose which benefits the residents of the City of Lynwood.
Section 2. The City Manager or his designee is directed to carry out any necessary
transactions as so ordered by this resolution.
Section 3. The City of Lynwood will participate in the fundraiser for the amount of
$1,000. The funding for this expense shall be the following account: 01-4001-4230.
Section 4. ~ This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 19th day of September, 2006.
