HomeMy Public PortalAbout6/05/1990 executiveGREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL Executive Session June 5, 1990 The Greencastle Common Council met in executive session on Tuesday, June 5, 1990 at 4:00 p.m. in City Hall. On call of the • roll the following members were shown to be present: Councilor Tim Conway, Councilor Susan Murray, Councilor Bob Sedlack. Also present was Mr. Jim Wright and city Attorney Larry Wilson. Discussion ensued concerning the property in question. Mr. Wright noted that two appraisals were acquired. Mr. Wilson noted that the statutory procedure for land acquisition would have to be used in acquiring the property. Councilor Mike Rokicki entered the meeting at this time. The zoning map was presented to verify proper zoning of the area in question. The preliminary site was discussed in reference to the property. Councilor Sheri Roach entered the meeting at this time. Mr. Wilson indicated that negotiations may occur in executive session. Councilor Murray moved to offer the appraised value of $8,000.00 for the property in question to begin negotiations. This motion was seconded by Councilor Sedlack and was carried by an aye unanimous vote. Mr. Wright was released from the proceedings at this time. Discussion began concerning the School Board appointment. The following names had been recommended: Mark Hammer, Rob Bremer, Sandy Gretter, Ruth Ralph, Keith Green, Diana LaViolette, Keith Brackney, Anne Clark, Dan Doan, Francie Hurst, Dave Jackman, Sue McCune, David Wood, Barb Boese, Gwen Morris, Lucy Wieland, Scott Davis. In an effort to narrow to three candidates, the Council • nominations were as follows: Councilor Rokicki - Keith Green Councilor Murray - Ruth Ralph Councilor Roach - Ruth Ralph, Sue McCune Councilor Conway - Diana LaViolette Councilor Sedlack - Lucy Wieland, however, Councilor Sedlack withdrew this nomination, noting Mrs. Wieland's desire to return to full -time teaching. On first ballot the nominees received the following votes: Keith Green - 5 votes Ruth Ralph - 4 votes Sue McCune - 3 votes Diana LaViolette - 3 votes On second ballot the nominees received the following votes: Sue McCune - 2 votes Diana LaViolette - 3 votes The three candidates were determined to be Keith Green, Ruth Ralph, and Diana LaViolette. It was noted that if Ms. LaViolette withdrew her name, Sue McCune would become the third candidate. No business other than that published in the agenda was discussed. Councilor Murray moved for adjournment. This motion was seconded by Councilor Roach, was carried by pn aye unanimous vote, and the meeting was adjourned�at 5:2� p. Michael M.
