HomeMy Public PortalAbout1980_01_23_R008RESOLUTION NO. 80-8 A RESOLUTION: TOWN OF LEESBURG IN LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA PRESENTED January 23, 1980 ADOPTED January 23~ 1980 ENDORSING A VIRGINIA SENATE BILL TO PROHIBIT THE POSSESSION OR DISTRIBUTION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA WHEREAS, this Council is alarmed by the growing proliferation of the drug paraphernalia industry which glamorizes and facili- tates the illegal use of drugs, especially by our young people; and WHEREAS, Senate bill 85 which has been introduced in the Virginia Senate will prohibit the possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia as well as provide more severe penalties for the distribution of drug paraphernalia to persons under 18. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, Virginia, as follows: SECTION I. Senate bill 85 which will prohibit the possess- ion or distribution of drug paraphernalia throughout the Commonwealth is endorsed. SECTION II. The Manager is authorized and directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Loudoun's General Assembly delegation and the Virginia Municipal L~ague. PASSED this 23rd day of January , 1980. G.
