Present: Jeff Doherty, Jeanette Thomson, Amy Ritterbusch, David Paul, Sue-Ellen Stoddard, John Westerling, DPW Director, and Jeff Alberti & David Steeves from Weston & Sampson. At 7:13 pm, Jeff Doherty called the meeting to order. 83 Wood Street - New DPW Facility - Review Color Choices Jeff Alberti & David Steeves from Weston & Sampson presented the updated DPW plans including two initial options. The building includes an Admin Storefront area and a Vehicle Storage area. The roof on the Admin Storefront has a slight pitch, not flat, but not very tall either. It will be visible from the street. The vehicle storage roof is galvanized metal but painted. A horizontal masonry band will go around the base of the building, it will be about 3’ up from the ground on the Admin Storefront area and about 4’ up from the ground on the Vehicle Storage area. Initial Options Presented for Admin Storefront & Vehicle Storage: ● Option 1 Front part of building with admin storefront shown in medium gray panel, with slight metallic, snow white roof. ● Option 2 Dark bronze walls with bone white roof on admin storefront area. Light gray sides “Tundra” on vehicle storage area building. Highlighting the windows with a dark red “redwood.” Masonry is speckled gray. Jeanette Thomson asked about roof color being so white, and wondered how it would weather and if it would look bad after a short time due to pollution. She also noted that the white is a stark contrast to the dark bronze building color. The Design Review Board discussed the color choices in detail and concluded that the following color palette would be the most appropriate for the main building: ● Tundra (gray) - Roof throughout ● Dark Bronze - Admin Storefront walls ● Redwood - Admin Storefront fenestration highlights ● Regal gray - Vehicle storage walls ● 580-G (the medium gray) - Masonry Next Jeff Alberti & David Steeves from Weston & Sampson presented designs and options from the Salt Shed, which will be in the back left, but will be visible from Wood Street. They explained that the shed must be closer to the front of the lot than desired due to environmental reasons (wetlands) & state regulations. It will have a gambrel roof line. The building will have a horizontal ship lap at the base with wood siding. On the two ends of the building above the ship lap, it will have vertical board & batten at the top. The Gambrel roof will come down to meet the ship on the two long sides of the building. The Design Review Board discussed the color choices in detail and concluded that the following color palette would be the most appropriate for the Salt Shed: ● Tundra (gray) - Gambrel roof, same color as the main Admin & Vehicle Storage building roof ● A shade lighter than Tundra gray - Vertical Board & Batten ● A shade lighter than Tundra gray - Horizontal Ship Lap The DPW Building Completion date target is November 2017. David Paul left at 8:12pm to attend the Charter Review Public Forum at the Senior Center. DRB had been notified by Jennifer Burke via email today that the Zoning Advisory Committee (ZAC) would like a member of DRB to attend their meeting on Monday, December 12 at 7pm to discuss the changes to the sign bylaw requested by the DRB. Ria McNamara confirmed via email that she can attend. Jeff Doherty & Amy Ritterbusch said they would also try to attend. Future Agenda Items: It was noted that Bill’s Pizza has recently added new signage that did not come before DRB. It is possible that Bill’s Pizza has now exceeded the amount of square footage of signing allowed. The DRB asked Jennifer Burke to follow up on that. Adjournment Jeanette Thomson, seconded by Sue-Ellen Stoddard, moved to adjourn at 8:25 PM. Vote: 5-0-0, Unanimous Respectfully submitted, Amy Ritterbusch Design Review Board member
