My wife and I purchased 195 Mount Auburn Street with the
intention of moving our Pilates studio there.
We received unanimous approval from the Zoning Board
almost 3 years ago. Unfortunately our abutting neighbor has
appealed the decision on the grounds that the space should be
residential.
In an effort to have final resolution, we have decided to forego
our plans for a Pilates studio and put in residential units
instead. Hopefully this will resolve our neighbor's conflict
since he has said from the beginning that this is what he wants.
The overhead, constant maintenance and upkeep of this large
historic property is enormous. Not only have we been unable
to open our Pilates studio; we have also been unable to rent
this portion of the house to any other tenants because of the
appeal. This has resulted in tremendous financial burden.
We appeal to the Board and the Town of Watertown for help in
resolving this matter. We have tried to be respectful and
accommodating to our neighbor's rights. But we hope that our
rights as homeowners will be protected and respected as well.
