RESOLUTION AWARDING OF CONTRACT FOR THE
2011-2012 ANNUAL STREET REPAIRS PROJECT
WHEREAS: on the 10th day of August, 2011, the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa approved the proposed street
and curb repair request as presented by the Public Works Department and the City Engineer's Office's
estimate for above named locations for repairs for the 2011- 2012 Streets and Curbs Repair Project. .
WHEREAS: the City Council having reviewed proposals submitted from Contractors for consideration, now
desire to award contract to the lowest most responsible and responsive bidder.
THEREFORE, the City Council now award the contract for the above mentioned street and curb repairs to
Masterbuilt Concrete Inc. for the amount of $12,540.18, and Road Use Tax Funds are to be used for this
project.
THERFORE, THE CONTRACT IS AWARDED with the understanding that 5% retainage will be held from
payment until Contractor furnishes a three year maintenance bond as per approved by Resolution 2011- 35 for
contracts awarded for infrastructure improvements under $48,000. Five year maintenance bond will be
required for any contracts awarded for infrastructure improvements over the amount of $48,000. A letter of
Credit for the amount of the improvements will be accepted in lieu of the Maintenance Bond.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to
sign all necessary notices, documents, and forms of contract, as required and necessary to execute such
contract.
Council person Mike Gericke made motion to approve Resolution 2011-37 RESOLUTION AWARDING OF
CONTRACT FOR THE 2011-2012 ANNUAL STREET REPAIRS PROJECT and motion seconded by Council
person Travis Weipert.
AYES: Chris Ball, Mike Gericke, Mark Petersen, Travis Weipert
NAY: None
ABSENT: Jim Bartels
WHEREUPON: With: Four votes for approval, Mayor Phillips now declares Resolution 2011-37 RESOLUTION
AWARDING OF CONTRACT FOR THE 2011-2012 ANNUAL STREET REPAIRS PROJECT be adopted and
signifies his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
Passed and approved this 14th day of September 2011.
