A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
(" CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING STAFF TO
SOLICIT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS TO
~- PERFORM A STUDY AND PROVIDE
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION
ENHANCEMENT AND REVITALIZATION ON
LONG BEACH BOULEVARD IN THE TRANSIT
STATION AREA
WHEREAS, the transit station area on Long Beach Boulevard is blighted,
underutilized and not pedestrian friendly; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has identified Long Beach Boulevard as the primary
arterial thoroughfare in Lynwood; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved a consultant contract to develop and
implement a specific plan for Long Beach Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, it is critical for the City of Lynwood to identify measures and funding
sources to enhance the transit and pedestrian linkages on Long Beach Boulevard.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood authorizes staff to
issue a Request for Proposals to perform a study and provide recommendations for
transportation enhancement and revitalization on Long Beach Boulevard in the transit
station area.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 3rd day of January , 2006.
