A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF THIRTY THOUSAND SEVEN
HUNDRED DOLLARS FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED GENERAL FUND
BALANCE FOR THE 2006 BLACK HISTORY MONTH PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to retain the services of a Jazz Music
Headliner: and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to participate as a sponsor in the
Rosa Parks "Quiet Courage" US Postage Stamp Kick-off Dinner; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to rededicate and permanently install
the art piece by Mr. Jameel Rasheed, titled, "Quiet Courage" recognizing the
importance and place of Rosa Louise Parks in history in Lynwood City Hall; and
WHEREAS, staff has determined the net cost to carry out the activities
described would not exceed the amount of twenty three thousand five hundred
dollars; and
WHEREAS, costs associated with the participation in these activities were not
included as a part of the adopted 2005/2006 fiscal budget.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council approves the expenditure of thirty thousand seven
hundred dollars from the un-appropriated general fund balance to carry out the
activities of the 2006 Black History Month Program.
Section 2. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager or his designee to
conduct the following transaction as required by this resolution:
