AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,
BY AMENDING THE GROSS RECEIPTS UTILITY TAX TO CONFORM TO THE
BUDGET.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 17 (Licenses, Taxation and Miscellaneous Business
Regulations) Sec. 17-204 (Imposed) of the Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is
amended as follows:
Sec. 17-204. Imposed.
A. Every person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of selling and distributing natural gas.
manufactured gas, steam, electricity, or both gas and electricity for commercial, business, manufacturing.
industrial. or for any other purposes in the city, who shall fumish these services within the city, shall pay to
the city a tax equal to six (six) percent percent of the gross
receipts solely derived from the sale of natural gas, manufactured gas, steam. electricity, or both gas and
electricity in the city as a license tax for conducting such business within the city.
B. Every person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of furnishing telephone service or
telecommunication services for residential, commercial, business. manufacturing, industrial. or for any
other purpose in the city. who shall furnish the services within the city, shall pay to the city a tax equal to
seven (7) percent of the gross receipts solely derived from the charges for local telephone or
telecommunication services in the city as a license tax for conducting such business within the city.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
of its passage and approval.
