Attendance: Dick Mott, Anne Kantola Roberta Pershing, Susie Reddick, Sigrid Boie III. Dick brought suggested plans for a new library with ground level parking, although it might be possible to just incorporate city parking into the current plan. Dick and others have many concems about the existing library and the fire station: heating systems, lighting, wiring, and flooring, to name a few. In the case of the fire station, we would have to deal with the oil drain area, and with the library, there is a 1970's era heating oil tank outside behind the Idaho Room. Dick will now calculate a price per square foot to remodel this building and the fire station. We must bear in mind the age of the existing structures, so if to start from scratch costs only another $5 or $10 per square foot and we gain 25 to 35 years in lifespan, that would be a better deal. Dick will need his son's help to get measurements on Phase II (Fire station) before making a cost per square foot calculation. Dick guesses that the existing library will cost $60-$65 per square foot to remodel and that the cost will certainly be higher on the fire station side, but of course we must look at the average. Anne will gather information from the state, etc, about library remodeling. For the next meeting, Dick wants us to continue to make projections about space needed for our future library on the feasibility study/function charts. He has some formulas we can use. Dick would like to donate some money to the Friends that could be sent back to him for tax-deductible operating expenses (printing, phones, etc.) Roberta will now be the facilitator of this group, setting the agenda, leading the meetings, etc. Carol Coyle, Robert Strope, Cloria Cantrell, Alex Hamilton, and Marilyn Summers, (Anne Kantola), are also on the committee, but Susie Reddick is resigning.
