RESOLU'flON AUT'rDRIZING THE BOROU(~{ ATT~ TO
OONCLUDE A CONTRACT FOR PURCHASE OF BLOCK 190,
LOT 1AND ~LOCK'190, LOT 4, FRO~ THEOWNER~ FOR
A PURCHASE PRICE NOT TO EX(:~:~:n $650,000.00.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Borough Cotmcil of the Borough of Carteret have been
attempting to revitalize the Town Center Area near the Borough Hall as part
of the ongoing efforts to pron~te business growth and tax ratabtes within
the Borough of Carteret; and
WHEREAS, the nature of this revitalization requires that the Borough of
Carteret obtain certain land and buildings which are not being well main-
tained or are presently abandoned; and
WHEREAS, the property owner of Block 190, Lot 1 and Block 190, Lot 4, (being
generally known as the "C-T~za Property") has indicated that he would be
willing to sell said Property to the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Borough wishes to acquire said Property in furtherance of the
above stated purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Local Lands and Buildings Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:12-1, et seq.)
permits such purchases of real property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor ~nd Borough Cooncil of the
Borough of Carteret that Craig J. Coughlin, Esq. of the law firm of
McGowan & Coughlin, P.C. , as Borough Attorney, is hereby authorized to
concluds a Contract of Purchase with the owner of Block 190, Lot 1 and
Block 190, Lot 4 for a purchase price not to exceed Six Handred Fifty Thou-
sand ($650,000.00) Dollars.
Adopted the 21st day of August, 1997
and certified as a true copy of the
original on August 22, 1997.
