RESOLUTION APPROVING PAYMENT OF THE 2011 SEWER LINING PROJECT
WHEREAS: Visu-Sewer has,completed the contracted work of cleaning and lining the
second section of city sanitary sewer in accordance to the contract signed for approval of such
work on March 14, 2011.
WHEREAS: on the 29th of July Visu-Sewer has presented an invoice for the amount of
$56,610.50 for payment from the City of Tiffin.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY The City Council of Tiffin, Iowa to approve and make
payment to Visu-Sewer for the amount of $56,610.50 with funds from the Local Option Sales
Tax Fund as budgeted by City Council and the Council directs the Mayor and City Clerk to
proceed with payment.
At a regular City Council meeting on the 10th day of August 2011 Resolution 2011-36 was
introduced by Councilperson Chris Ball and made a motion for approval. Motion seconded by
Councilperson Travis Weipert.
AYES: Chris Ball. Jim Bartels. Mike Gericke. Mark Petersen. Travis Weipert ,
NAY: None
ABSENT: None
With: Five votes for approval, Mayor Phillips now declares Resolution 2011-36

RESOLUTION NO. 2011-35
RESOLUTION FOR APPROVAL TO ALLOW A THREE YEAR MAINTENANCE BOND
FOR CITY STREET REPAIRS UNDER $48,000
WHEREAS: the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa has been requested to'allow public improvements be allowed for
work in the City of Tiffin under a three year maintenance bond.
WHEREAS: Zoning Ordinance 2007-287 Design Standards Streets 5.01 Subsection E. state that "A five-year
s (5) maintenance bond covering defective materials and workmanship is required for all street improvements."

THEREFORE: The City Council may by resolution grant the acceptance of a maintenance bond of less than
five years. It is understood that the requirement of a five year maintenance bond or letter of credit creates a
financial hardship upon the smaller contractor. An amendment to the Zoning. Ordinance 207-287 will be made
by City Council at a later date. ,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa approves and allows the Mayor and City
Clerk to accept a three year maintenance bond to cover the materials, and workmanship of projects under
$48,000. Retainage of 5% will be retained from any contractor until the three year Maintenance Bond is
received by the city from the contractor or a1etter of Credit to cover the amount of the contract.
On this 10th day of August 2011 at a regular meeting of Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Council person Mike
Gericke introduced RESOLUTION 2011-35, RESOLUTION FOR APPROVAL TO ALLOW A THREE YEAR
MAINTENANCE BOND FOR CITY STREET REPAIRS UNDER $48,000 and made a motion for approval.
The motion was seconded by Council person Travis Weipert.

RESOLUTION: 2011-34
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CLOSING OF ROBIN COURT FOR THE ANNUAL
BLOCK PARTY ON August 13, 2011
WHEREAS: a request has been made by residents of Robins Ct to close the street on
Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 5:OOPM to midnight for the annual Block Party and Potluck.
WHEREAS: The City Council upon reviewing, the Special Events Application presented
from the residents, find no reason to prevent the Block Party.
WHEREAS:The residents will use their own vehicles to block off the entrances to Robins
Court from Nightingale Dr. on the south and Blue Jay Ct on the north end.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: THE City Council approves the request to allow closure of
Robins on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 5:00 pm to Midnight for the ANNUAL Block
Party. °
On this 10th day of August 2011, at a regular meeting of Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa,
Council person Travis Weipert introduced Resolution 2011-34 and made a motion for
approval. The motion was seconded by Council person Mike Gericke.
