Leesburg Residents Encouraged to Use Interactive Features
and Surveys Regarding Town Plan Update
The deadline to participate in online surveys is Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
Leesburg, VA (October 17, 2019) – In an effort to gather additional input, the Town of Leesburg
is encouraging residents to visit the Town Plan update website (https://legacy.leesburgva.gov)
to share their ideas regarding the future of Leesburg and participate in online surveys and other
interactive features.
The Town Plan serves as the general guide for the future development of the Town, for the
Town Council in its legislative role, the Planning Commission in its advisory role, and the role of
the Town’s other boards and advisory commissions. It also guides Town staff, residents,
business owners, and landowners with respect to specific land development decisions.
Information regarding the entire Town Plan update process is available on the Legacy Leesburg
website including interactive features for various topics, such as transportation, housing,
community facilities, and the environment. Participants may engage in as few or as many of
these topics as they wish. These website features were developed to give residents an
opportunity to provide feedback if they were unable to participate in the Community Ideas
Exchange Workshop that took place on October 2, 2019. Using the public feedback, the Town
will create a “playbook” that outlines the steps needed to achieve the community's vision.
The deadline to provide feedback for this 2nd round of activities is Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

The Leesburg Town Plan is a policy document that guides the future development of the Town.
The current plan was adopted in June 2012. The Town has hired a team of consultants led by
Stantec Architecture to produce a complete rewrite of the Town Plan. The project is expected to
be completed in Summer 2020. For more information about the Town Plan Update, contact
