Town of Leesburg Welcomes New Deputy Town Attorney
Leesburg, VA (August 22, 2019) – The Town of Leesburg
announces the hiring of Christine M. Newton as the new deputy
town attorney.
Born and raised in western New York, Newton earned her law
degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 1994.
Following her graduation, Newton practiced law in western New
York for several years, where she served as an Assistant County
Attorney in Wyoming County, New York, representing and
advising the county hospital, building department, and
department of health. She was also associated with a private
law firm, where she assisted individual, corporate, and municipal clients with both litigation
matters and transactional needs.
Having resided with her family in Leesburg since 2005, Newton has been an active member of
the local community, serving in various volunteer capacities with civic, school, church, and
athletic organizations. She currently serves as an appointed member of the Loudoun County
Public Library Board of Trustees and previously served on the Rust Library Advisory Board.
Newton has worked for a private legal practice, in Leesburg, since 2011, most recently as a
shareholder at Turner & Kinney, a general civil and business practice. Her work focused on
addressing the legal needs of professional and business clients in a wide range of matters,
including commercial real estate, contracts, and business formations and transactions.
Service to the local bar has been an important professional focus for Newton. She currently
serves as the President of the Loudoun Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association,
and the Parliamentarian of the Loudoun County Bar Association.
