The Way of the Cross Processional to Take Place in Downtown
Leesburg on Friday, April 19, 2019
Six local churches are sponsoring the Good Friday processional, expected to
draw hundreds.
Leesburg, VA (April 16, 2019) – Hundreds of Christian parishioners will be walking to various
locations in downtown Leesburg on the evening of Friday, April 19, 2019, between 6 p.m. and
7:30 p.m.
The processional, known as “the Way of the Cross” or “the Stations of the Cross”, will begin at
Leesburg Presbyterian Church (207 West Market St) at 6 p.m. Walkers will make their way to
the Old Stone Church Cemetery (Cornwall & Liberty Streets), St. James Episcopal Church (14
Cornwall St NW), Rotary Park (North & Church Streets), and the Leesburg Town Green (25 West
Market St), before ending at Leesburg United Methodist Church (107 West Market St) at
approximately 7:30 p.m.
Walkers will be staying on the sidewalks. There are no road closures, but drivers are cautioned
to be alert for pedestrians while traveling through downtown during the processional.
The processional is sponsored by Leesburg Presbyterian Church, Leesburg United Methodist
Church, Christ Episcopal Church Lucketts, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, St. James Episcopal
Church, and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. For more information, call 703-777-4163.
