A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
A CONTRACT EXTENSION TO THE STREET SWEEPING CONTRACT WITH
NATIONWIDE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES (NES), AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT AMENDMENT AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO
SEND OUT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR A NEW STREET SWEEPING
CONTRACT
WHEREAS, the Street Sweeping Contract with Nationwide Environmental
Services (NES) was due to expire on December 31, 2005; and
WHEREAS, on November 15, 2005, the City Council approved afour-
month contract extension to April 30, 2006, for staff to complete the street sweeping
study and to negotiate a new contract with NES; and
WHEREAS, on April 18, 2006, the City Council approved aone-month
contract extension to May 31, 2006, for staff to complete the street sweeping study and
to negotiate a new contract with NES; and
WHEREAS, the study is complete and the contract negotiations have
started and are ongoing; and
WHEREAS, The City Council anticipates a successful conclusion to the
negotiations with NES, and wishes to provide staff an additional 2 months to complete
the negotiations and bring to Council a completed agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby
find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1: That the City Council approves a temporary 2 month contract
extension to July 31, 2006 for the Street Sweeping Contract with Nationwide
Environmental Services at the current compensation schedule of $23,456.25 per month.
Section 2: That the Mayor is authorized to execute the contract
amendment.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 16`h day of May, 2006.
