HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006-106 (06-06-06)RESOLUTION NO 2006.106 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM THE PROPOSITION "A" UNAPPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE TO THE ON-DEMAND DIAL A TAXI SERVICE WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has provided an on-demand Dial a Ride Service for senior citizens and handicapped residents for over twenty-five years; and -~f^- WHEREAS, the program changed in 2001 from an in-house operated program to f one that is provided by a private sector contract service provider; and WHEREAS, the number of monthly rides provided after this change of service provider increased from approximately 600 rides per month to almost 1,800 rides per month; and , WHEREAS, City staff has negotiated with the contract service provider in order to reduce the cost of the services to the City in order to accommodate the increased ridership, and WHEREAS, the current demand for the services has now exceeded the appropriated budget by over $7,500 per month; and WHEREAS, based upon the current level of ridership the funding budgeted for the service in the amount of $180,000 was expended at the end of March 2006; and WHEREAS, an additional $60,000 in funding is necessary to complete the current fiscal year; and WHEREAS, there is Proposition "A" funding available within the existing 2005- 2006 budget; and ,r-- WHEREAS, the Dial a Taxi Service is an approved usage for Proposition "A" Funds. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby find, determine, order and resolve as follows: Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to carryout any and all necessary transactions as so ordered by this resolution. Section 2. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to prepare any correspondence to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority necessary in order to facilitate the transaction as ordered by this resolution. Section 3. The funding appropriation in the amount of $80,000 be allocated from the unappropriated Proposition "A" balance as follows: FROM TO $60,000 $60,000 Unappropriated Proposition "A" Balance 31-4781-4220 Section 4.
