Sidewalk Improvements to Begin on West Market Street
West Market Street, between Ayr Street and Morven Park Road, will be closed
from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily beginning Monday, May 11, 2020.
Leesburg, VA (May 4, 2020) – Construction on the West Market Street sidewalk project is
expected to begin on Monday, May 11, 2020. Approximately 0.2 miles of sidewalk will be
replaced along the north side of West Market Street, between Morven Park Road and Ayr
Street, with brick sidewalks that will be in compliance with ADA regulations and constructed to
provide a safer walking environment.
The first phase of work will include the installation of a water line beginning at the intersection
of Morven Park Road and West Market Street as well as the relocation of two utility poles
owned by Dominion Energy.
West Market Street, between Ayr Street and Morven Park Road, will be closed daily from 7 a.m.
to 7 p.m. from Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15. During this time, Dominion Energy will be
performing their relocation work and the contractor, Madian Construction, Inc., will be
installing the waterline. After the utility relocation work is complete, construction activities will
continue under a one lane closure, with the use of flagmen, through June 12, 2020.
In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen issues, the road closures will be delayed.
