To Assist Residents with Storm Debris Removal, Town Waives
Restrictions on Brush Collection
Volume limits and size restrictions waived through Friday, February 14, 2020.
Leesburg, VA (February 7, 2020) – In the wake of this morning’s severe windstorm, the Town of
Leesburg has waived volume limits and size restrictions on brush collection for one week to
assist residents with storm debris clean up.
Through Friday, February 14, 2020, Leesburg residents can place any amount of brush at the
curb for collection. Trash or other debris, like roof shingles or siding, will not be collected with
brush.
Town crews will begin collecting storm-related brush on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Branches
and limbs that are between 4 and 8 feet in length and less than 8 inches in diameter will be
collected using chipping equipment. Larger items, including root balls, will be collected
separately.
All brush items must be placed at the curb. Town crews cannot enter private property to collect
storm debris. If contractors are hired to remove downed trees, the contractors are responsible
for all debris removal.
Residents with questions about what can and cannot be collected should contact the Street
Maintenance Division at 703-737-7073 or streets@leesburgva.gov.
