Wsyne Neddermeyer - Mayor in Chair Priscilla Arens - Clerk All 'douncil members present together with the Village Hall Committee and Tom Schneeweis of Ehlers and Associates Moved by Robert Franklin to adopt Resolution #73-10, setting up the date of the election for the new village hall, said resolution attached hereto, the time be June 14, 1973 from 7:00 A. M. to 8:00 P. M. and election judges same as last year, the polling place being the Village Hall. Seconded by Arthur Theis All members in favor of motion Motion carried. Moved by Donald Des Lauriers to adopt the schedule as set forth in the letter of Richard Schieffer, dated May 4tth, said schedule through to June 14th. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Moved by Robert Franklin to adopt Resolution #73-11 as follows: WHERAS, in recent years there has been a proliferation of policies and laws emanating from federal, state, county and metropolitan jurisdictions which have the effect of transferring tremendous resources from suburban areas to inner city areas, and! WHERAS, the suburban and outer community areas are divided, many in munber, and without a cohesive and united organization to represent its interest, And WHERAS, not having a cohesive organization, there does not exist research, data, and staff wherein suburban area communities can defend and advance their several interests, and WHEREAS, the inner cities have large staffs, full-time councils and mayors, and many organizations continually emphasize t'e problems and needs of the inner cities, and WHERAS, suburban area legislators, congress- men, and other representatives lack proper data and support from their municipal constituents and are therefore unable to effectively genresent the fair and best interests of the suburban area citizens, and WHERAS, it is our belief that we are responsible to see that our citizens receive fair and equitable consider- ation in the legislative and policy making activities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Village of -Medina supports and encourages that the following steps be taken by the Hennepin County League of Municipalities Board of Directors: 1. Redirect Hennepin County League of Municipalites objective so as to give increased and more vigorous emphasis to the needs of the suburban and outer communities:2.Strengthen the Hennepin County Eeague of +runicipalities organization and its functions so as to make possible arA expanded and more active relei 3. Inclease the Hennepin County League of Municipalities I-udget and dues schedule to finance the operations of the larger staff and increased activity; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Village of Medina will support the above three steps which will be officially voted upon at the next general membership meeting to be held on May 24, 1973.
