A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR LEGAL
SERVICES WITH COLANTUONO & LEVIN, PC AS SPECIAL COUNSEL TO
THE CITY IN MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S UTILITY TAX AND
RELATED ISSUES.
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood adopted a utility users tax in 1990 and has
been collecting the tax since that time; and
WHEREAS, changes in the law impacting the tax and the City's collection of the same
have taken place since adoptior of the tax; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood desires to obtain the
services of legal counsel with expertise in matters pertaining to utility taxes,
Proposition 218 and related issues; and
WHEREAS, the firm of Colantuono & Levin, PC has extensive experience in
the area to render the City advise concerning the utility tax and represent the City in all `
matters pertaining to the utility tax and, as such, meets the requirements for this unique
assignment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Lynwood hereby finds, orders and resolves as follows:
Section 1. The attached agreement for professional services is hereby approved by the
City Council, and the Mayor is authorized to sign the same on behalf of the City.
Section 2. All costs related to the above agreement are to be charged to the Contingency
Set Aside, Fund # 38.
Section 3. This resolution is to be given effect immediately upon its adoption.
