RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BOROUGH ATTORNEY TO CONCLUDE
A CONTRACT FOR PURCHASE OF BLOCK 192, LOT 3, FROM THE OWNER,
FOR A PURCHASE PRICE NOT TO EXCEED $219,000.00.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret have been
attempting to revilalize the Town Center A~'ea near the Borough Hall as part of the ongoing
efforts to promote business growth and tax ratables within the Borough of Caneret;
WHEREAS, the nature of this revitalization requires fha! the Borough of Carteret obtain
certain land and buildings which are not being well maintained or are presently abandoned; and
WHEREAS, the property owner &Block 192, Lot 3, (being generally known as thc
"Toth Property") has indicaled that he would be willing to sell said Property to the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Borough wishes to acquire said Property in furtherance of' the above
stated purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Local Lands and Buildiugs Law (N.J.S.A, 40A:I 2-1, et seq.) permits
such purchases of real properly;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Borough Council of the
Borough of Carteret that Craig J. Coughlin, Esq. of the law firm ofMcGowan & Coughlin, P.C.,
as Borough Attorney, is hereby authorized to conclude a Contract of Purchase with the owner of
Block 192, Lot 3, for a purchase price not exceed Two Hundred Nineteen Thousand
($219,000.00) Dollars.
Adopted this 4th day of September, 1997
and certified as a true copy of the original
on September 5, 1997.
