7 p.m.
The Hopkinton Board of Library Trustees met at the Town Hall at 7 p.m. Library
Director, Rownak Hussain, Adult Library Director, Heather Backman, Town
Manager, Norman Kamahlo, Susan Porter, Stan Pulnick, Michael McNamara, and
June Harris were present at the meeting.
The Town Manager began the discussion on how best to address the library
transition. Norman explained the plan was to identify an interim library director from
outside, to continue to work as a team so as not to change the dynamics, but to find
an exterior candidate who has gone through similar transitions and has the skills to
lead us to a new building.
Norman, Heather and Rownak had to leave to attend other meetings.
Our discussion turned next to as to how best to approach a member of the Board
who has not attended one meeting since her election. Stan agreed to follow up with
Norman on the issue and report back to us at our next meeting.
June Harris asked that the Board defer the vote on the January minutes as she did not
have them compiled. The board members agreed and vote made and carried to defer
the review and acceptance of the January minutes.
The Board members then went through the report of the library director. There was
discussion about borrowing wifi, efforts to ramp up technology related services and
continuing to be innovative to provide new services.
Reminder that the library ground breaking was coming up for March 11 at 10 a.m.
The Board expressed excitement about that and looking forward to honoring Rownak
at her retirement party on the evening of the 10th.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting and seconded. The meeting concluded at
approximately 8:10 p.m.
