AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1S4 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, BEING ORDINANCE NO. 2325-1968, COM-
MONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, PROVIDING FOR THE RE-
ZONING OF TWO SEPARATE AREAS, AREA 1 BEING GENERALLY BOUNDED BY SOUTH "A" STREET, SOUTH 2Oth
STREET, SOUTH "B" STREET AND SOUTH 17th STREET; AND, AREA 2 BEING GENERALLY BOUNDED BY SOUTH
"C" STREET, SOUTH 16th STREET, SOUTH "E" STREET AND 111E ALLEY BETWEEN SOUTH 15th AND 16th
STREETS FROM R-3 ONE -TO -EIGHT FAMILY RESIDENCE DISTRICT TO R-2 SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE DIS-
TRICT.
WHEREAS, the Zoning Map which is part of Ordinance No. 2325-1968 designates and describes
as R-3 One -to -Eight Family Residence District two separate areas, Area 1 being
generally bounded by South "A" Street, South 20th Street, South "B" Street and
South 17th Street; and, Area 2 being generally bounded by South "C" Street, South
16th Street, South "E" Street and the alley between South 15th and 16th Streets;
and,
WHEREAS, the above referenced areas are shown and designated on a map attached to this
Ordinance and marked Exhibit "A" hereof and by reference made a part hereof; and,
WHEREAS, it is the intent and purpose hereof to change the zoning classification of said
areas from R-3 One -to -Eight Family Residence District to R-2 Single Family Resi-
dence District all as designated on the map marked Exhibit "A'; and,
WHEREAS, a study of this Ordinaacez s conducted by the Richmond City Plan Commission the

were Tear -from all partiesinterestedin or affected by this Ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the vote of the Richmond City Plan Commission was to C, in favor
of/' to recommending passage of Ordinance No. 26-19$3.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as
follows:
SECTION 1. That the map, marked Exhibit "A' designating the two areas to be rezoned from
R-3 One -to -Eight Family Residence District to R-2 Single Family Residence District
is hereby made a part of Ordinance No. 26-1983.
SECTION 2. That the zoning classification of the above described areas be, and the same
are hereby changed to R-2 Single Family Residence District as designated and
described in Exhibit "A" hereof and that said areas be regulated in accordance
with the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Richmond, Indiana, and all amendments
thereto.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval as by law required.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, this
day of 1983.

Dear Mr. Mills, Members of Corrmon Council and Mrs. Trimble:
The Richmond City Plan Commission conducted a public hearing
on Tuesday, June 28, 1983, on the petition of Common Council,
requesting to rezone from R-3 One -to -Eight Family Residential
District to R-2 Single Family Residential District the follow-
ing two (2) areas:
Area 1 being generally bounded by South "A" Street,
South 20th Street, South "B" Street and South 17th
Street; and, Area 2 being generally bounded by
South "C" Street, South 16th Street, South "E"
Street and the alley between South 15th and 16th
Streets.
Forty (40) notices of public hearing were sent to surrounding
property owners with four (4) returned in favor of the granting
of the petition and noneopposed to the petition.
The Plan Commission voted eight (8) to zero (0) to recorrmend
the passage of Ordinance No. 26-1983, and determined the follow-
ing:
1. The predominate land use is single family dwelling.
2. The requested rezoning is a logical extension of the
R-2 Single Family Residential District adjacent to
this area.
