A RESOLUTI ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
SUPPORTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE COUNTY OF LOS
ANGELES DE IPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO RETAIN AMERICAN
MEDICAL RESPONSE (AMR) IN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AND
RECOMMENDING TO THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS AND THE FIRE CHIEF THE SELECTION OF AMR AS THE
EMERGENCY'I AMBULANCE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES PROVIDER
FOR UNRECOMMENDED ZONES 3, 4 AND 6
Whereas, the City of Lynwood contracts for 911 paramedic service with the County of
Los Angeles; and
Whereas, the County of Los Angeles contracts with American Medical Response-- AMR
for 911 ambulance transport covering 90% of the County's service area; and
Whereas, AMR has an unparalleled working relationship with LA Co Fire at all levels,
and
Whereas, AMR has responded to approximately 40,000 calls in Lynwood over the
previous 10-year (term of their contract; and
Whereas, AMR and its employees are actively involved in the communities it serves,
and AMR's Countywide breadth and depth allows them to conduct programs which
significantly improve the safety of oun community, such as the Jr. Paramedic Program;

ywide breadth and depth allows them to weather the closure of
emergency rooms and still maintain City 911 response times; and
Whereas, AMR's Countywide breadth and depth allows them, when called upon by LA
County Fire, to assemble and deploy ambulances, state of the art equipment, and highly
trained EMS managers immediately to the scene of mass casualty incidents without
negatively impacting local 911 response times; and
Whereas, the City of Lynwood believes that as a County Contractor we deserve a voice
in the selection of the emergency ambulance provider in our jurisdiction;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Lynwood finds, orders and resolves as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council hereby resolves to support the recommendation of the
County of Los Angeles Department of Health Services to select AMR for Zone 7 as well
as to retain AMR~,in the City of Lywood for emergency ambulance transportation
services; and
SECTION 2. The Council hereby finds AMR to be the best qualified emergency
ambulance provider and thereby recommends to the Los Angeles County Board of
Supervisors and the Fire Chief the selection of AMR to Zones 3, 4 and 6 for emergency
ambulance transportation services and

SECTION 3. The City of Lynwood will send a copy of this resolution to the
to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Fire Chief upon its adoption.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
