Minutes of September 3, 2009, Meeting

Noting the presence of a quorum, Chairman Chace called the meeting to order at 3:06
pm.
Present were Alan Chace, Darnell Caffoni, Julie Winslow, David Light, and Sherrill
Smith.
The minutes of the August 20 meeting were approved as written.
COMPLETING THE TASK FORCE REPORT. Chairman Alan Chace reminded task
force members that the task force report must be complete in October. The time in
between meetings must be utilized to complete assigned tasks. Recommendations must
be sent to the chairman ASAP. Needed too are e-mail addresses of interested Orleans
citizens. Visitations to town boards and committees are scheduled, but not yet done.
CHANNEL 18 public notice: the draft text by Darnell Caffoni was approved.
FARM STANDS: Alan Chace has taken photographs of a number of farm stands in
Orleans. He is writing a recommendation to allow farm stands in all real estate zones,
residential in particular.
LAND ACQUISITION: Julie Winslow is working on a land-acquisition
recommendation.
FARMERS' MARKET: Julie Winslow will write a narrative and recommendations
pertaining to Section 1, item ii, of the report outline.
SMALL PLOT INTENSIVE FARMING: Darnell Caffoni will write a narrative and
recommendations pertaining to Section 1, item ii.
CONEV1UNITY GARDENS: A waiting list was reported this year.
TRANSFER STATION COMPOST: Darnell Caffoni reported that the T.S. will continue
to accept yard waste, but that compost grinding has been stopped as a cost-saving
measure.
Meeting adjourned at 5:00 pm.
