HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-26-2009THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 26, 2009 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, February 26, 2009, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Assistant City Attorney Kim Vessels, Director of Public Works and Engineering Greg Stiens, Carol Horton and Mike Lindner. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that two board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Robinson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the February 19, 2009 meeting. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Robinson made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment for February 27, 2009 in the amount of $299,589.97. She explained of that total $43,354.81 was paid to WCTV for the fourth quarter of 2008 franchise fees, $45,969.00 was paid to Thomas Dodge for three Dodge Avengers for the Police Department to replace wrecked vehicles, $9,860.00 was paid to Johnson Auto Sales for used pick up truck for the Street Department, $19,500.00 was paid to Road Ready Sales for used Ford F250 for Street Department and $89,467.03 was paid to Studebaker Buick for Dump Truck with snow package for the Street Department. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Director of Public Works and Engineering Greg Stiens for the approval of Contract No. 20 -2009 with Indiana Department of Transportation for the South "E" Street Project. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. Board of Works Minutes February 26, 2009 Page 2 of 4 RESIDENTIAL HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGN RENEWALS A. Robinson made a request to the board to approve the renewal of a Residential Handicapped parking sign at 121 SW "E" Street for Calvary Baptist Church. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Robinson made a request to the board to approve the renewal of a Residential Handicapped parking sign at 948 Sheridan Street for Ms. Jessica Cooper. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. C. Robinson made a request to the board to aprove the renewal of a Residential Handicapped parking sign at 215 South 14'11 Street for Ms. Linda Davis. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. D. Robinson made a request to the board to aprove the renewal of a Residential Handicapped parking sign at 405 South 13'11 Street for Ms. Betty Kenny. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. BID OPENINGS A. Robinson brought to the board bid openings for the Vehicle Impound and Storage Contract. Those bids are as follows: 1) Stamper's Wrecker Service a. $46,297.00 — $18,518.00 to be paid by November 30, 2009 and $27,779.00 to be paid by November 30, 2010. 2) H &H Wrecker Service a. $53,697.97 - $20,000.00 to be paid on November 30, 2009 and $33,697.97 to be paid on November 30, 2010 3) Pardo Service a. $75,566.00 - $32,370.00 to be paid on November 30, 2009 and $43,196.00 to be paid on November 30, 2010. B. Robinson brought to the board bid openings for the towing of regular City owned vehicles. Those bids are as follows: 1) Country Side Auto a. Autos - $1.50 a mile round trip outside City limits - $55.00 days - $65.00 nights b. Pick up trucks - $1.50 a mile round trip outside City limits - $55.00 days - $65.00 nights c. Small Buses - $1.50 a mile round trip outside City limits - $60.00 days - $70.00 nights d. Side Loaders - $75.00 days - $85.00 nights e. Three Cubic Yard Trash Trucks - $75.00 days - $85.00 nights 2) Stamper's Wrecker Service a.
