A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING
THE CONTINUED FUNDING OF TWO COPS DEPUTIES AND SUPPLEMENTAL
OVERTIME FOR THE GANG ENFORCEMENT TEAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $145,000
FOR FISCAL YEAR 2004-2005
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Lynwood is desirous of creating and
maintaining a safe community; and

WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's
~ 4 Department for law enforcement services; and
WHEREAS, The City desires to maintain continuous deployment of the
Community Oriented Policing Team; and
WHEREAS, The City desires to provide overtime funding for the Century Gang
Enforcement Team to target active gangs in Lynwood in an effort to reduce violent crime;
and
WHEREAS, These activities were not budgeted as part of the FY 03-05 budget;
therefore, an appropriation is required from the general fund in order to pay for this
function.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to carry out any
necessary transactions as so ordered by this resolution.
Section 2. That the City Council authorize the transfer of $145,000 from the
unappropriated general fund to Account #01-4555-4230 to fund the COPS Team and
~"~ overtime for the GET Team through the remainder of the fiscal year.
Section 3. That the Sheriff's Department report to the City Mana er on the

activities undertaken by the COPS Team and the GET Team on a bi-weekly basis.

Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediate) u on its ado tion.
